The absorber was developed by the specialists of the British startup Zelp. The device is attached over the nose of the animal and draws in the exhaled gas. The substance accumulates in a chamber with a filter that neutralizes this compound. As a result, only carbon dioxide gets into the atmosphere.

Anti-methane masks are equipped with solar-powered fans.

From 2022, Cargill and Zelp expect to begin offering these kits to European livestock breeders. It is estimated that renting equipment for one cow will cost from $ 80 per year.

Methane is one of the most active greenhouse gases. Once in the atmosphere, it retains tens of times more heat than ordinary carbon dioxide of the same volume.
