Russians want to buy Kazakh meat

According to experts, the Russian Federation intends to export at least 150 thousand tons of meat products from Kazakhstan.

Russia can become the largest consumer of Kazakh beef in 5 years. At the same time, our country has all the prospects and opportunities to declare itself as a global producer of meat products, inbusiness.kz reported.

Russians want to buy Kazakh meat

As Roman Kostyuk, Director General of the Russian National Union of Beef Producers, noted in his speech at the LEPSI 2023 international conference, the northern neighbor is seriously looking at the Kazakh Meat market. Of course, today's agenda in the form of Export restrictions, including in connection with the epizootic situation, has an extremely negative impact on the development of the industry.

However, even despite these factors, Kazakhstan remains in the spotlight.

“We need meat from Kazakhstan in Russia. And the minimum volume that we would like to see in our country is 100-150 thousand tons of your beef,” Roman Kostyuk outlined the appetite of the market.

In fact, these are huge numbers that our country, with its current population of 9 million people, is not able to cover. At the same time, the Russian expert believes that, given the understanding of long-term prospects, cooperation on beef is mutually beneficial. As an example, Roman Kostyuk cited one of the Orenburg companies, whose order for Kazakh meat amounted to 20 thousand steers from fattening to slaughter. There are many processors in the Russian Federation who are ready to accept such huge volumes.

"You have to understand that it will take some time. Today, even in a year, there will be no revolutionary explosion. But in 3-5 years, Russia may become one of the largest consumers of Kazakh beef," the expert expressed his opinion.

Now Russia, for various reasons, is reducing its livestock, both dairy and meat. In addition, the northern neighbor specializes more in other areas of agriculture. Therefore, looking back at Kazakhstan is serious.

In general, beef cattle breeding is promising for both countries, Roman Kostyuk believes. The market itself says IT.

"According to FAO estimates, beef consumption will increase by 5 million tons in the next 30 years. At the same time, all countries of the world, with the exception of Russia and Kazakhstan, can hardly produce 1.5 million tons. The shortage of beef on the planet will amount to 2-3 million tons. The only countries that could increase the number of livestock and meet global demand are Kazakhstan in the first place and Russia in the second, since it specializes in other industries," the expert summed up.

Another interesting direction for Kazakh beef producers is China. Earlier, the head of state declared his readiness to supply this product to China. The industry representatives themselves would be happy to open exports, as this would give an impetus to the development of the sphere. Now the country's animal husbandry is not in the best position, and the situation is aggravated by unstable state policy in terms of subsidies.
