At the end of the first quarter of 2021, the number of cattle in Georgia increased by 4.4% compared to the same period last year and reached 1 million heads, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Office (Geostat).

Reportedly, the total number of dairy cows and buffaloes increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 468.5 thousand heads.

The total number of sheep and goats decreased by 4.5% and amounted to 1 million heads.

According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of 2021, milk production increased to 115.3 million liters - by 7.8% compared to last year.

The number of pigs amounted to 174.7 thousand heads, which is 3.8% more than in the same period last year. The number of birds reached 11.3 million, an increase of 10.4% over the first quarter of last year.

Meat production decreased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 15.8 thousand tons.

The volume of egg production amounted to 171.4 million pieces, which is 6.9% more than in the same period last year.
