As of August 1, 2020, the number of cattle in farms of all categories in Russia was estimated at 19.2 million head, which is 0.5% up against the time of the year. This was reported by Rosstat.

At the same time, the number of cows at the beginning of the reporting month increased by 0.4% to 8.1 million head, pigs - by 4.7% to 26.9 million head. At the same time, the number of sheep and goats decreased by 0.9% - to 24.6 million head.

"In the structure of livestock, as of August 1, share of cattle in households accounted for 41%, hogs - 10.4%, small cattle share was 45%. As of the same date in 2019, these indicators amounted to 41.7%, 11.3% and 45.4%, respectively, "the report says.
