Cattle population in Republic of Georgia was down in 2019

Cattle population in Republic of Georgia in 2019 was 2% down against 2018 to 3,7 million head, this is said by the National Statistics Service "Sakstat".

Cattle population in Republic of Georgia in 2019 decreased slightly

Over two years a program of cattle breeding development in the country's highlands has been operative that includes support to cooperative farms, including provision of agricultural machinery and pastures. Six million has been allocated for the program.

Totally from 2017 to 2018 the government helped ot 39 small commercial farms - they were given pastures for 25 years and helped to establish enterprises for the processing of fodder.

In accordance with existing legislation, residents of highland areas are granted a remission of income duties and property taxation, and entrepreneurs in these areas are exempt from profit and property tax.
