Prices for meat and poultry in Kazakhstan increased by 2% in a month. Annual price growth reached 15%

The production of meat products is growing, however, imports occupy a significant share in the poultry market, as well as finished and canned meat products, Total.kz reports citing Energyprom.

Prices for meat and poultry in Kazakhstan increased by 2% in a month

So, according to the results of April of this year, meat and poultry went up by 2% per month and by 14.8% per year, sausages - by 2.9% per month and 13.8% per year; meat products, such as lard, minced meat, canned food, cutlets, semi-finished products and smoked meats - by 2.1% per month and by 13.6% per year.

The volume of processing and canning of meat, as well as the production of meat products by domestic companies in January-March of this year amounted to 101.1 billion tenge, which is 28.8% more in value terms compared to the same period last year (IPP - 108.3%) .

The output of meat and edible by-products in January-March 2022 amounted to 85.1 thousand tons, plus 4.9% per year. Of these, 18.1 thousand tons fell on fresh or chilled meat of cattle, small cattle, pigs, horses and equines, which is 13.3% more than in January-March 2021.

The production of fresh or chilled poultry meat increased by 8.3% over the year, to 27.8 thousand tons. The output of prepared and canned products from meat, meat by-products or blood in January-March 2022 amounted to 25.3 thousand tons, an increase over the year - by 7.6%.

Domestic companies in January-February 2022 provided the demand for meat, poultry and edible by-products from them by 92%, as in the previous year. At the same time, directly in the poultry meat segment, the level of self-sufficiency amounted to only 77.5%, and 22.5%, respectively, fell on imports.

The demand for ready-made and canned products from meat and meat by-products was provided by Kazakh companies by 64.4% - almost the same as in January-February last year (it was 64.9%). Demand directly for sausages, local producers managed to meet by 61.7%, against 60.1% a year earlier.
