Mass death of cattle is observed in Kazakhstan
The Eurasia Daily (EADaily) news agency reports that in two regions of Kazakhstan, a massive death of young cattle is taking place from an unknown disease. In the village of Mortyk, North Kazakhstan region, 16 calves died in July.
Veterinarians did not have time to establish the cause, because concerned owners immediately burned the carcasses. According to the results of their survey, the symptoms were established. There is a version that the cause of the death was emphysematous carbuncle (emkar) - a disease caused by bacteria from the genus Clostridia that live in the soil. It is not contagious. The likelihood of outbreaks increases in hot summers, when animals in pastures swallow soil along with dried grass. The notification about the death of 10 head of livestock came from the Akmola region. More than 500 animals need veterinary care in the villages of Azat and Karabulak.
