The beefsteak will turn into luxury goods
Danish Crown Group CEO Jace Waller predicts a rise in prices for a beef steak and veal in the next years.
Do you like good, tasty and juicy steak? Well, get ready to place this product in the luxury category from now on as many manufacturers are looking to reduce the climate impact of livestock farming in the coming years.
“The beef will be a bit like champagne, namely a luxury product. We will still have production, but this will be the production of beef and veal from dairy cattle and calves. Beef from beef cattle will be a luxury product that we only eat on special occasions, ”said Jace Waller, CEO of Danish Crown Group, in a statement to Danish newspaper Berlingske.
“It became clear to me that the way we consume and think about meat will change markedly in the coming years,” added Mr. Waller. Danish Crown aims to be the world's most sustainable and successful meat producer by 2030. By 2030, Danish Crown should reduce the climate impact of meat production by 50%, and by 2050, the company's production should be climate neutral.
