In the first half of 2021, 219.4 thousand Mt of meat in live weight were produced in the republic by economic entities of all categories, the Kabar agency reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agency, this figure is 1.6% or 3490 Mt more than the corresponding period last year.

The increase in meat production in the country is due to an increase in the number of farm animals, except pigs and poultry.

According to the National Statistical Committee, as of January 1, 2021, the number of cattle increased by 35 thousand head and amounted to 1715.7 thousand head, sheep and goats increased by 11.9 thousand head and amounted to 6278.7 thousand head, horses for 17.0 thousand head and amounted to 539.6 thousand head, and the number of pigs decreased by 5.3 thousand head and amounted to 29.4 thousand head and the number of poultry decreased by 140.7 thousand head and amounted to 6070.4 thousand head.

It should be noted that all regions of the republic produced more meat than the corresponding period of 2020.
