American beef tasting at WorldFood Kazakhstan, November 1-3, 2017

World Food Kazakhstan International trade show was established in 1998 in Almaty, the biggest city and old capital of Kazakhstan, and this year celebrated its 20th anniversary. The show featured food products from 460 companies representing 36 countries, and attracted more than 7,000 professionals in wholesale and retail trade, food processing, food service, and logistics. Over the last several years, Kazakhstan has become a regional hub and trading platform for the US meat and poultry products in the Central Asian region covering other stan-countries in the Region: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan that totally represent a market with 70 million consumers.

Nowadays World Food Kazakhstan trade show is the most significant event of Food Industry in Central Asia, most attended by professional visitors, and most effective instrument of marketing promo in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The USMEF participates in the show to use the most efficient ways in developing of partnership relations with meat importers, distributors, logistics companies, and HRI and retail market players in the Central Asia.
This year USMEF had a booth jointly with USAPEEC and the booth had become a central meeting venue for the Kazakhstan agricultural officials, food importers, distributors, traders with the USDA officers: David Leishman, director of the Moscow ATO office, and Rachel Vanderberg, the U.S. agricultural attach? in Kazakhstan and USDA representative in Astana, and with the USMEF members to discuss an increase in market opportunities and perspectives for the US meat market expansion. At the show USMEF had a display with the US beef samples, and conducted the US meat tasting and popularization of the US food culture and traditions.

 
 

Within the show framework the US delegation of the USDA officers, USMEF members, USMEF and USAPEEC representatives had an opportunity to visit the modern warehouse and cold storage facilities of one of the largest beef quotas holders in Kazakhstan -company “Iceberg” and meet with Mr. Fakhruddin Bagirov, CEO and owner of “Iceberg”, and with his partners. The company is supplying the US beef liver and pork cuts for further processing.
The USMEF members Lamex Foods and ATI International companies attended the World Food Kazakhstan show and had met with their Kazakhstan business partners, importers, distributors, as well as with potential customers.
